Most Popular Game Genres in India
There’s no doubting the fact that gaming is absolutely huge in India. There are millions of people who enjoy various different kinds of games on a regular basis. Whether it’s casual games like match-3 or puzzle games or full-fledged competitive shooters, there are players all over India that are invested in all sorts of these games. It’s important to highlight, though, that while gaming as a whole is certainly big in India, there are certain genres that definitely eclipse others due to how insanely popular they actually are.
First off, shooting games, especially mobile-based ones, are without a doubt among the most popular genres in India. While this might not have been the case a few years back, things have changed drastically in the recent few years. Ever since PUBG Mobile was released alongside various other competitive shooter games like Garena Free Fire and Call of Duty: Mobile, the interest in shooting games among Indian players has gone up by an absolutely massive amount.
There are millions of Indian players on PUBG, Free Fire, and CoD: Mobile servers on a regular basis. This isn’t all, though, because India often hosts tournaments for games of this sort as well and this demonstrates just how big they are in the country. Everyone from students to working adults enjoy these shooter games on their phones almost daily and this is something that likely won’t be changing anytime soon.
Strategy games are also quite massive amongst Indian players and they’ve actually been like this for a while. Although their rise wasn’t necessarily as meteoric as the rise of shooting games among Indian players, strategy games have consistently remained among the most popular games in India. Games like Clash of Clans that have been around for close to a decade now has certainly played a huge role in driving the strategy game interest in Indian players and, alongside this, there have also been some stellar new strategy game releases like Clash Royale that has helped ignite a further interest that’s kept this genre quite popular in Indian gaming circles.
Of course, one genre that likely everyone will be familiar with is the casual game genre. Like pretty much most of the entire world, casual games are insanely popular in India as well. Games like Candy Crush Saga, Subway Surfers and several others have remained some of the most popular choices for Indian games for quite some time. Although these games aren’t necessarily as popular as they once were, there’s absolutely no doubting the fact that a major chunk of the Indian player base enjoys them on a regular basis.
All things considered, there are loads of different game genres that are popular in India because gaming, as a whole, is huge there. However, the aforementioned genres are no doubt at the very top and see a staggering number of players every single day.
